Reminder to 10th-grade students

I wanted to give all 10th graders notice of a few pieces of news:
1.  Notice that I gave you an extra few days to finish assignment #2.  This seems logical since I had asked you to keep fixing the first round, and really wanted you to lock in those concepts.

2.  The guides are up and running on the blog home page, over on the top right.  If you have any time, start reading through it, as these will be critical during the coming school year.

3.  The participation has been uneven among students in the Honors 10 class, and I wanted to make sure that you got the word out to all your friends:

While many of you, currently registered in "Croland" on your registration forms, have been doing these assignments, many have not, perhaps not understanding that these are for all incoming Honors 10 students, regardless of instructor:  they were never intended only for "my" students.
In the spirit of what you've seen on this blog this summer, these short assignments are all about getting a head start on vital skills you'll need to succeed in our writing this year, and every student will benefit from getting a chance to learn about it and work on it now.  Assuming that Ms. Croland does teach the other class, she will also be expecting many of these elements in your written work, and students who don't get this chance now may find that our work on these skills moves very fast during the year, and may even find themselves overwhelmed that they missed out on this valuable chance to get a handle on them now.  Keep writing, working and sharing, as we ALL learn to be prepared together. :)

4.  I also encourage your continuing comments on the discussion post below regarding this forum and your reactions to working in this way.
