1. Finish preparation of list of the 7 "Defense mechanisms"/"negative coping strategies" we discussed in class Monday.
Include citations with each definition (you can use the abbreviated URL, a la: "allaboutadolescentdysfunction.com/defenses"--you don't need all that other suffix stuff at the end ) I want to see that you have consulted at least 3 websites where you found your definitions. Make sure each is also explained in your own words. THEN Include 10 more terms pertaining to DM/CS from your web research that you can share in class. (THESE MAY BE CUT-N-PASTED, but cite your sources) THEN, 2.Complete two outline tables, like the one we outlined in class.
For EACH: Find a scene when Holden describes something bad going on in his life: BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE SCENE IN ONE SENTENCE AS YOUR OVERALL HEADING INSERT A 3- COLUMN TABLE, then fill in these headings, and FILL TABLE: LH-"What does he say?" (include at least 3 short quotes) MIDDLE- "What defense mechanisms are going on here?" (include 2-3) RH: brief explanation of EACH DM in middle: "I know that he’s showing this mechanism in that…" (explain each one)
Link to class notes dump Based on our in class exercise, emphasize clarity of notes. Make sure to include "how it is what you say" without getting bogged down in vaguness or trying to turn it into sentences: just get the ideas in there!
