Some general resources for parents

1. Follow ABI "Gradebook": please go over this with your son or daughter to show them how important completing their work is to their grades. Every student earning a grade lower than a C at this point has missing or incomplete work. The online gradebook can help you track this, as I update it every week or so.

2. SUGGESTIONS: while each student has unique needs, all benefit from good habits and strategies that work in general. See this thorough guide for suggestions based on which specific challenge your son or daughter is having!

3. WHAT'S A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAT MIGHT EXPLAIN WHY THIS CLASS IS CHALLENGING...
I take a slightly different direction from some teachers: at the root of everything in the class, however, are the very-traditional skills of staying on topic, explaining ideas, and answering questions.

See this step-by-step guide and template for how, generally, we do this.

Also, you may like this general explanation (more specific and a bit more "jargon-y" than what students have done so far, but a good technical explanation of what we will be doing more of) intended for tutors and parents when actually helping with homework.
