AP/Eng 12 question For Friday

For Slaughterhouse 5: Explain a specific way the author employs dramatic shifts of tone, setting, or narrative voice (or any particular kind of irony, generally) in the first chapter to establish the basic themes of the novel. This is analytical: you're trying to name or define "some specific strategy the author does in multiple places" and explain what it might "mean" to the story. (It must be more specific than "So it goes") AP12: outline, then draft, supporting your analysis in a brief 1-page "mini-essay," explaining how he uses this technique in 3 places. Regular 12 option: Outline 2 different techniques, and do brief DE outlines, without paragraphs.
