Wednesday, 9/15 English 9 Assignment

For this exercise in decoding symbols:
Choose 2 symbols from the three stories you already read, including any of the symbols we discussed in class.
For each, break down the symbol as follows:
Create a two column, 6-line table.
Left column= "specific things about/characteristics of" the symbol"
Right column= " what general trait or quality this is/shows"

Fill in five such descriptive details of each symbol, filling in both sides, just like I did in class with the "Tunnel" demonstration, then fill in, at the bottom of each table, what each symbol seems to represent, based on what all the general traits on the right have in common.

Objectives:
-be able to logically recognize 5 traits or qualities of the thing being described.
-come up with general qualities that actually are suggested by these traits.
-come up with a plausible abstract thing or concept that each symbol may symbolize.
