Reminders for 9/10 for Monday 4/12

Assignment: using 4 questions approved from class, or two of those and up to two of these, create a DE outline of the answer to each question, following the guidelines of our Wed./Thursday in-class"how to stay on topic" exercise.
Each outline will contain:
a) A question
B) a "heading" line of "Specific examples of ____" on the left, "tell/explain how this shows_______" on the right.
c) three Details with quotes/explanations that would answer the question.type: Start with an interpretation, ask for the show:

Objective: Stay on-topic to answer the question. How do we know we did this? (remember our in-class exercise!)
-Make sure the question asks for a single show-->tell relationship
-Make sure your headings are FILLED IN CORRECTLY to ask for the correct info. that answers the question.
-proofread your completed DEs to make sure that all the content in each outline helps to answer what the heading says you're looking for.

Some sample "show-tell" question ideas:(Lord of the Flies, Mice and Men mixed)

What are some signs that Curley's wife is not happy in her marriage?
What shows that Ralph is already losing control as leader?
How do we know that Crooks is actually a nice guy once he lets his guard down?

2nd type: Pick a scene; ask what it shows about some specific idea. (but don't go on a fishing expedition without some direction)
What does the incident in Weed show about Lennie's ability to handle social situations?
What do the boys' reactions to the fire going out show about the differing priorities of Ralph and Jack?

For "easier" prompts, try not to involve comparisons: (similarity, contrast, resemblance, foreshadowing, etc.) A question that compares two scenes, events, people, things requires 3 details about each, 6 total!
