Period 4 EC prompt for Tuesday, 1/12

Remember, this is an optional EC assignment; credit, up to 6 points is here to earn if you can create a clear paragraph that:
  • Defines your main idea in a topic sentence
  • Gives specific examples (more is better)
  • Explains how your examples show your point.
Choose either prompt, based on our Friday discussion:
A.  Explain how one key event "drives" the outcome of the plot in L of the F:
How does that event specifically lead to the ones that follow?  What about each event seems to bring about the increasingly violent actions of the novel? (A point for each clearly-explained Cause-effect connection)

B.  Discuss what one person, event, or "thing" in the book may be symbolic.  (Some possibilities include:  The Airman, The "Lord of the Flies" itself, the fact that they're on an island, Piggy's glasses, The Conch, the Fire, etc.)  Explain what this thing may symbolize, specifically describing what the specific features or qualities of your subject may represent.  (1 point for each clearly-explained symbolic quality)
